Make an ordinary quilt extraordinary. There is more to a quilt then a center. This has been the most popular lecture for ten years and is forever changing quilt design. Using simple techniques that quilters, of all abilities can employ examples of more then 30 quilts using different techniques are shown.
Each student uses a unique 36 page Border Notebook to review hundreds of border ideas and techniques. Samples of the borders are made to provide for understanding the various techniques. Students are encouraged to bring unfinished quilt tops in need of a border to discuss and employ some of these various options
Every Quilter enjoys knowing more about color and design. This lecture will show how colors and components interact to create vibrant, dramatic and powerful visual effects. More then 30 quilts are shown, and the color theory behind each one is discussed. The relationship between fabric characteristics and quilt design will be revealed. Knowledge gained will demonstrate to you how to take simple techniques and enhance your quilt.
Using a color notebook you will do color exercises to show how to choose complementary, analogous, split complementary, and monochromatic color schemes. We will also use these techniques to design a simple quilt that can dramatize these great color techniques.
This lecture is comprised mainly of a complete quilt show of many quilt designs. Discussions will elaborate on how quilting can enhance your quilt. Many different quilting techniques and styles will be enjoyed by all participants.
This has become a very popular workshop. Students use pre-marked samples to explore many freemotion techniques. This has proved to be a great success for the newest quilter to the more seasoned quilter. Detailed
discussions and instructions on needles, thread, tension, and batting are provided.
I have made over 250 quilts most all variations of old designs from my own original patterns. These quilts are available for workshops. Since they have been taught to over 100 students, available samples of student work show even more variations on the same quilt. I encourage creativity, and will help you find your creative soul to design your own quilt.

From front to back; Viewing quilts with an artist’s eye you can learn practical tips for color, fabric selection and design. I will discuss where inspiration came from with details of piecing, choice of backing and quilting design. A question and answer period after the lecture is welcome
